    President's Corner

    New Times

I have spoken a lot about “change” this year in my articles. As HR professionals, we must partner with our colleagues in the C Suite and other groups to be in the forefront of change and leading organizations. It may not always be easy, but please don’t give up.

As I’m nearing the end of my term as President, I would like to thank the chapter members, board and committee members and all our volunteers for allowing me this wonderful opportunity and for the support you have offered. I encourage anyone to get involved with the chapter, serve on a committee or join the board. There are excellent opportunities for development of skills and rich rewards in establishing relationships with others in the field of HR.

On June 8th at Weber’s Inn, 12:00 p.m. (noon), an appreciation luncheon is being held for volunteers of the chapter. Please RSVP at www.gaashrm.org under the Events Calendar.

I personally would like to thank all of the Chapter’s committee and board members for working together and moving the chapter forward. It has been a fun year and at the same time progressing through changes required under SHRM’s new S.H.A.P.E. guidelines. A special thank you is extended to our Board members that will be leaving the Board in July. Thank you for your contributions and leadership in the Chapter. You will be greatly missed.

Congratulation’s to Mary Gmeiner, President-Elect and the Program Committee for a great year of program meetings. As new times approach, a special welcome to the newly appointed incoming President-Elect and Program Chair, Melissa Gentner and incoming Secretary, Anathea Collar. If you haven’t met them yet, be sure to introduce yourself to them at one of the upcoming events. They will be a great addition to the team. Other changes on the Board for 2010-11 will be announced in upcoming newsletters.

During the summer months, the chapter program meetings go on summer break until September. Be sure to check out the Upcoming Events pages with summer events scheduled and mark your calendar for the Fall Program Meeting on September 21 (NOTE: This is NOT the 2nd Tuesday, as usual).

Thank you again. Good luck to each of you as you continue to develop and grow in the field of Human Resources.
