Topic:  “Increased Corporate Immigration Compliance Risks Under the Trump Administration”


This presentation will review all areas of federal immigration law and regulatory compliance for companies, including in connection with temporary work visa and permanent residence(“green card”) sponsorships, as well as Form I-9s and the E-Verify system. Particular emphasis will be placed on the most recent changes and challenges to compliance under the current Administration, in each of these areas. At the conclusion, participants will be able to assess their company’s current level of immigration compliance,and identify areas for review and improvement. Participants will also learn to evaluate when outside resource assistance is necessary and appropriate,and to monitor and oversee outside partners,including electronic I-9 storage systems



Mr. Allen is an experiencebusiness immigration attorney with Dickinson Wright, one of the largest general practice firms in Michigan. He has practiced immigration law exclusively for more than 25 years, and is a frequent presenter on the topic to businesses and human resource groups across the state.His practice focuses on all aspects of immigration sponsorship for companies, including temporary work visas, permanent residence, and the full spectrum of corporate immigration compliance.Mr. Allen also served on the Board of the Detroit SHRM chapter for several years,and is currently the Treasurer of the Michigan Council of SHRM.  


Ms. Sukkar has more than a decade of experience in all areas of immigration law, including,non-immigrant employment-based visas (such as H, L,E, O, P, R, TN, NAFTA visas),immigrant employment-based visas (EB-1, EB-2, EB-3, EB-5 and PERM labor certifications), outbound (global) immigration, family-based immigration, and naturalization.She is experienced in conducting I-9 and LCA file audit training. She has also developed a niche expertise in the area of E-1/E-2 (treaty trader/investor) visa applications, consular processing, and start-up ventures.Ms. Sukkar serves an array of employment and business related industries including: automotive, healthcare, education, financial services,hospitality/food, IT/technology, engineering, religious, and not-for-profit
